What does "church membership" mean at EBC?
The phrase, "membership in a local church," may not be specifically stated in the Bible, but the concept of being a committed part of a local body of believers is seen throughout the New Testament.
A member asserts a commitment, publicly and personally, to their local church, to investing their lives, finances, and God-given gifts there to further its purpose and mission. They invest in giving over receiving, and in growing with others towards serving God in their community and beyond.
When a person becomes a member, they state they are committed to maintaining unity as a witness for Jesus as well as being accountable as they strive to live for Him. More importantly, they commit to faithfully praying for their church family and leadership.
To become a member at EBC, a person must have:
- personally received Jesus Christ as their Savior
- been baptized as a believer
- agreed with EBC's Statement of Faith
- completed EBC's Membership and Discovery Class
Although membership is not required to participate in EBC life, we encourage you to make this step.
