We're hiring an Associate Pastor

Position Scope

The associate pastor position will work to implement the vision of the Elders and Senior Pastor.  This includes working with church staff, ministry teams and assisting other ministries in performing their assigned duties. The position’s duties and responsibilities will be re-evaluated by the Governing Board of Elders (Elders) to best utilize the gifting of the individual, to meet the needs of the Church body.

We have identified several areas in our fellowship that would benefit from this position. However, we understand that one person will not be able to fulfill all these tasks.  The ideal candidate will have gifting in the several of these areas.  These include (but are not limited to): Administration, Member Care, Christian Education, Worship, and Communication.

Please note that this is not primarily a preaching position as we have a Senior Pastor who fulfills that role.

General Responsibilities

  • Work to implement the goals of the Elders and Senior Pastor.
  • Provide leadership and direction for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work with existing ministries and ministry teams to increase effectiveness.
  • Help to establish new ministries.

Primary Duties and Expectations

  • Fulfill the duties of the ministry in accordance with the beliefs and direction of the church Constitution, Governing Board of Elders (Elders), and biblical principles.
  • Work to make ministry vision and goals become a reality.
  • Provide administrative oversight and support to assigned ministries.
  • Recruit, train, and equip leaders for ministries. Collaborate with and provide support as needed to EBC ministry teams.
  • Develop leadership training opportunities as needed.
  • Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with the community and persons attending EBC.
  • Regularly report to direct supervisors and the Elders.
  • Accept feedback and respond with appropriate actions.
  • Other duties as determined by the Elders.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Attend EBC and participate in other ministries, events, and church meetings as needed.
  • Collaboratively lead, organize, and oversee other events as able and necessary with the lead pastor’s direction.


  • The associate pastor is supervised by the lead pastor and the Elders.
  • The associate pastor oversees ministry leaders, workers, and other volunteers as needed.


  • Must meet the Scriptural requirements for and Elder and Deacon. 1 Timothy 3:1-10, Titus 1:5-9
  • Evidence of Biblical and Theological Training.
  • Must be in agreement with EBC statement of faith, vision and values.


  • This is a full-time position; however, we will also consider applications for individuals who wish to work less than full-time, but at least half-time.
  • Compensation package is based on experience.

EBC History

EBC of Dallas had its beginnings in 1912. Our congregation is multi-generational, has a “small town flavor” and is generally spiritually mature with strong Bible knowledge. We are a church with a total average attendance of 350 in our two morning worship services, one of which is also available online. We have Sunday School for adults, teens and children. We have youth groups for both middle school and high school that meet under the direction of our full-time youth pastor. The recent completion of a youth center building demonstrates our commitment to the young people in our area. We offer men’s and women’s Bible studies, and Mom to Mom and AWANA programs serving our church and the community. We also have small groups for the church body which are called Connect Groups. We are a church that is monetarily generous, financially strong, and supportive of our many missionaries. Where we are located

The City of Dallas has a population of approximately 17,000 and is the county seat of Polk County, located 15 miles west of Salem, the state capital. Dallas is a family-oriented, safe community and offers small-town charm, beautiful city parks, an aquatic center, and both public and private Christian schools. Chemeketa Community College serves our region and has a center in Dallas. We are strategically located between the beautiful Oregon coast (50 miles West) and the Cascade Range and high desert of Central Oregon (100+ miles to the East). Our thriving community is a simple commute to Salem, which offers shopping and cultural entertainment. Dallas is serviced by a small local hospital which is affiliated with a larger regional hospital located in Salem.
